Of bacon, porn and winter chill

December 22, 2007 | 05:21PM  | maudie dot b - gmail d c | |

Greetings from the arctic north. No, wait. This is still Oklahoma. Yesterday it was sixty-five degrees. Today it's below freezing, blustery cold winds and snow. Yup. It's Oklahoma.

Today was the weekly gathering of Los Bruncheros and today we got a treat. We had a homecooked brunch - french-toast casserole, scrambled eggs, fruit salad, home-made muffins and nut breads, bacon, some other meat and vegetarian sausage. Hosting was Tassita and Corson in their gorgeous new home out of the city near the lake.

The house is cozy, unique and full of personality. Corson is not only an author but an artist - the walls of their home are a gallery of sorts for his fantastic photography and other creations. One I have to share with you. It's brilliant.

The piece is an homage to the iconification of women. A commentary on the worship of the female - holy and unholy. My last trip to Vegas I began to brew an idea for some sort of montage of all the adverts the porn slappers attempt to foist on you. Corson did it brilliantly. Click on the image below for a larger view. The pic was taken with my iphone, therefore it's of poor quality, but I think you'll get the idea. I love it.

It began to snow while we were solving the world's problems around the table in the kitchen. I snapped the picture below as I left. Brrrrr. It's a day for the couch, a warm blanket and perhaps an Iron Chef marathon on the tube....
