6:45 am: the phone rings. The voice at the other end of the line says "We're not going in today."

"Really?" I croak. I croak because it's 6:45 am and I'm not awake.

"Yes, Janet* doesn't have Judy's* number so she made a decision and we're not going in."

Janet's my boss, Judy's the center manager who's recently been crowned queen of us all ("you're just going to have to live with it") - and the we is us who are "non-essential" employees which means the we who is us got a snow day!

And I couldn't get back to sleep.

snowdayby.jpg A peek out the window confirmed the oft quoted Will Rogers' assessment - if you don't like the weather in Oklahoma, wait a minute. Two days ago it was 75 degrees. Today it was 25 degrees with a blanket of sleet, ice and snow with more on the way. Although I knew my little VW and I could've easily negotiated the slick, but mere, two miles to work, who am I to argue with my boss?

I've fired up the coffee pot and the computer and have been able to spend a leisurely time in Bloglines and my favorite reads. A good thing, too - Iggy's uber would've sidelined any hope of accomplishing anything productive at work.

Sidenote: I'm happy as punch that my little midgit friend got the gig over at Pokerworks. Linda (I hereby dub her the "Blog-goddess" more befitting than "blogmother", methinks) knows how to pick 'em as she's corralled a talented, diverse stable of studs poker writers over there.

This one's going to ramble some - there's more pulp than juice in the creative fruit today, so I'm looking to my poker-blogging brethren to help me.

I learned through my not-so-invisible internet friend, Gracie, that Jason's blog has reappeared. That made me very happy. She also mentioned that she intends to win the name the kitty contest. I'm so sorry to inform her (and I will do this gently because I'm loath to bruise our sisterhood) not no way, no how!! I'm going to take down the prize. Hah!

As if he needs any pimping, I will still mention buddy Pauly's tilt post. It's come at a good time for me as this is a current problem with which I'm dealing poker-wise. Tilt has put my bankroll on the critical list and it's everything I can do to keep from stepping back up to the danger levels, or going for that gut-shot anyway or reraising that blind stealer because I've fucking had it with his sorry ass.... (breathe)

Speaking of. I attempted the Mookie again. It seems that my reputation has morphed into one that might closely resemble Oklahoma weather. Don't like my stack size? Wait a minute. Oh, how cruel the young ones can be.

I actually can't argue with that, though. My poker playing has resembled a couple of sugared up kids (or maybe Waffles and Sox-lover?) on a teeter totter. To say I'm not happy with my game would be a gross understatement. It's in dire need of repair.

Moving on.

I'm way out of the loop on this one - I get the impression there's a secret playhouse somewhere where stuff goes on that some of us don't know about. I've clued in that there's a sub-strata of poker bloggers getting together through the innerweb out there talking about my favorite show Battlestar Gallactica - and I'm not in on it! WTF???

Frist has bowed out of the 2008 presidential race. Fancy that. I think the UIGEA should be erased by default, don't you? Wanna do something about it? Head over to the Poker Player's Alliance - they've got a strategy in the works (note to the PPA web people - give readers a heads up that they are about to click on a link to a .pdf, please).

My Vegas trip nearly got nixed by the county court system. I received a call to jury notice which commanded I report Monday, December 4th. I'm all for doing my civic duty - in fact I'm eager to serve, but hey, it was Vegas week. The tickets bought, hotel booked and bags nearly packed.

Fortunately I am a fine-print reader (I RTFM, too) and discovered I could request a one time postponement, which I did, and which was granted. I rescheduled for April. Whew.

snowdayfy.jpg I'm sqeezed dry. Rather than chewing on the bitter rind, I'm tossing it in. I have a sirloin in the freezer, salad in the fridge, time for lunch then an afternoon at the tables... ya'll have a good one.

Keep those cards in the air! (haven't said that in a loooong while)
