Da Podfadder

July 31, 2006 | 04:31PM  | maudie dot b - gmail d c |

Following the WPBT tourney in Vegas a few weeks ago, I was sitting by myself in Caesars' food court chowing down on a hamburger when I was approached by two young men.

"Maudie?" one of them queried.

"Yeeeahs?" I warily replied. Warily, because I'm not accustomed to strangers knowing my name ('cause who am I anyway? - nobody) plus this was Vegas and with the city being rife with poker bloggers, I tried to be alert to the occasional practical joke this group was capable of.

They introduced themselves, "Brent & Sean from Card Club..." I pulled myself out of my Casino Stupor (CS for short - a name I've invented for a condition caused by sensory overload and too little sleep, the onset of which occurs somewhere in hours 28 - 36 of one's Vegas visit) and shook their hands.

They sat down and we visited for a bit. It was a pleasure to match faces to the voices I've listened to on their podcast. They didn't know it, but these guys helped give me the courage to do my own version of a podcast - and I didn't tell them that while I had them there in person. For that I apologize and hereby hope I can rectify that oversight.

These guys have managed quite a coup for their latest podcast - they coaxed the blogfodder himself out of his wee bunker and got a dandy conversation for their broadcast. I was especially impressed with the technical prowess it must have taken to make him sound like a full-sized fellah, although I was kind of disappointed because his little dwarfish voice is so cute.

Go give it a listen... and Sean & Brent - it truly was a pleasure meeting you guys - I'm sorry I was such a zombie at the time.
