Update to my previous post:
There's a reason I'm not a journalist 'cause even a two bit journalistic hack would probably have known that Oklahoman Berry Johnston was the 1986 WSOP World Champion. In fact, just a scan of his career since 1982 places him at the Main Event final table no less than 4 times. Other WSOP bracelets in his jewelry box include 2001 WSOP Razz championship, 1995 WSOP Limit Omaha, 1990 WSOP Limit Hold-em, and the 1983 WSOP Match Play championships.
Add to that auspicious list a string of impressive cashes in numerous other tournaments and you have an Okie who's shown 'em how to get it done for nearly 25 years. Between this seasoned veteran and the young gun Jordan Morgan who appeared on the circuit radar as recent as last fall, I wouldn't shy away from wagering that an Oklahoman will make it deep in this year's run for the millions - and millions it's going to be with over 8,000 entrants confirmed. I cannot get my brain around that one.
