Housecleaning...

June 18, 2006 | 03:00PM  | maudie dot b - gmail d c |

For those of you who actually pay the blog a visit, welcome to the new revised edition of Poker Perspectives.

My little home here on the internet was in dire need of a thorough cleaning and reorganization. I rearranged, cleaned out the dust bunnies from underneath the code and threw out some broken and shop-worn markup with the trash. I'm pleased with the new layout. I hope you are, too. Help me out by letting me know of any issues or browser rendition problems you are having - especially those of you who are on Macs or who use browsers other than Firefox or IE.

In a few short weeks another housecleaning will be undertaken. Our family house in Oregon went on the market and was sold before the end of the first day it was listed. My Dad is in a comfortable little apartment in an 'assisted living' center - and doing fairly well - so the house is sitting empty save for 34 years of family memories.

deadsantaFor the vast majority of those 34 years, my parents' house was the gathering spot for holiday celebrations. It was a solid tradition - the two 'Ants' coming in from Oklahoma and Hawaii, my brother and his kids and wife du jour coming from southern Oregon then, as time passed, his children and their children joining the fray.

34 years.

And in a few short weeks, my sister, my brother and I will pack up and ship those memories to Hawaii and Oklahoma and southern Oregon... We'll close the door and hand the key to a new family and an era of new memories and family times will begin.

My heart is breaking for the loss of that point in time in the future I looked forward to each year for 34 years.
