"I did not believe the information, I just had to trust imagination, my heart goin' boom boom boom...."
-Peter Gabriel
Seems like old times. Played an honest to goodness session of poker this evening. Actually, this is the third evening in a row I've had and honest to goodness session of poker. And you know what? It's been good.
You see, I moved up. With Hank's words to me of a couple years ago "Move up as soon as you can" nudging me forward, I pulled myself out of the mire of 2.4 and 3.6 and am trudging up the hill of 5.10 at present.
I'm not crushing, mind you, I'm grinding it out - learning the nuances of the new level and to manage the stake. Players are just as naive as at the lower levels, but there is a subtle difference which I'm thinking is related to the stakes. After some time I hope to be able to articulate it more succinctly.
Prior to this I merely stabbed at 5.10 - taking undue risks to bring myself back up, nervously getting in and getting out quick. I decided, though, that it was time to make the move. Knowledge-wise I've been ready to play at the higher levels for a long while, but I held back due to bankroll considerations.
Well, I finally had enough and after a conversation with my "mentor" (nuh-uh.. s'my mentor, can't have him) I essentially realized it was time to strap on the brass ones and just do it.
My bankroll is healthy and there're reserves in the Fun Fund to assist with any damage variance might do. It also doesn't hurt that my record at SnGs is staying strong, too (two for two this evening, as a matter of fact, with a second and third respectively, thank you very much...).
So confidence is high right now - and that is critical to staying sharp and at my "A" game. Now if I can only get to the top of the ladder at a bracelet race....
REMINDER: Okie-Vegas is SIX short days away - Y'all are invited, dammit. There's no place more central in this fine country than Oklahoma and smack dab in the middle of Oklahoma is OKC/Norman and I'm bringing in finger-lickin' good Oklahoma BBQ, GCox has lake action going and, gosh-darnit there are CASINOS with POKER here. What's your pathetic excuse for not coming??? Huh????
