I logged onto Poker Stars Tuesday intent on playing Wil's weekly, but of course my greying brain had the time all wrong and I was an hour late. However - a cancelled private tourney caught my eye - Oklahomapoker.net - well, I couldn't let that go univestigated.
I paid a visit to the site which looked fairly young. Evidently it was created to provide information about poker rooms, games and tournies in (you guessed it) Oklahoma. Looks like it has a lot of potential.
Well, then, today I get an e-mail from one of the site's developers - quite coincidentally. With permission, I've excerpted a bit of the correspondance for you below:
Our site has been up for several months but just recently has started to pick up traffic. We just started our weekly tournaments as of two weeks ago and they have been a big success with the site. We implented (sic) a leaderboard to keep people coming back and for bragging rights. Eventually, I hope to get some prizes to give away to our leaders and the such.
Our vision with Oklahomapoker.net from the very beginning was to create a website that celebrates our state's poker scene. I was tired of not being able to find any information online regarding poker room information or tournament schedules for the state of Oklahoma. That motivated me and gave me the idea for this website.
He's right that it's frustrating to try and find out what's going on in the various rooms in the area. The tribal casinos - with perhaps the exception of Cherokee in Tulsa - are way behind the times in getting their internet thing going. My advice to these fellows - sidle up to some of those rooms and sell some advertising - you might could do very well. Just a suggestion.
So there you are - I'm not sure how many Oklahoma readers I have beyond pals Duggle and Gary - but give the site a visit and check it out.
