So what's been keeping Maudie so doggone busy these days? I know you've been asking yourself that question, hanging by the closed door, eager with anticipation and curiosity. Right? Uh.. hello? No? You haven't even missed me?? Harrumph....
Well, I'll tell you anyway. Since late March, early February, I was shuttled some work via the Poker Prof which entailed styling the web-site for the new organization - the World Poker Association. Styling, you ask? Yes, I got out my shears and blow drier and.... nonononono....
Styling means I did the layout for the sight using primarily CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) - I guess it would be more accurate and understandable to say I did the layout for the site... so say it, ditz. Ok - I did the layout for the World Poker Association website. There, you happy?
I sliced and diced the graphics and worked some CSS magic to turn it into what you can see by clicking all the WPA links I've provided thus far. It's a simple little sight visually, but it was a hilly learning curve for me to do the layout. You can lift the skirts and look at all the naughty parts by right-clicking and viewing the source code - a lot of what you see there is me.
I'm about 85% to 90% pleased with my work there. I'd rate myself as a beginning CSS-er with a foot into the next level of the skill set. I love doing it - it's intensely satisfying to solve a particularly nagging problem, click refresh and see the results pop up in front of you. SCORE! Yes.... I celebrate with little happy dances.
The major work is essentially done. I have some tweaking to do and one page that requires some re-formatting in the interest of aesthetics (it had to go up rather quickly - so I did the speed version).....
SO - that's what's taken up a large portion of my poker time. My thanks to the Prof for sending the work my way - it's helped the bankroll tremendously - and , as such, I expect to get back to the tables post haste.
Oh - and the Prof called me a geek. It was a proud moment.
