Weighing in

February 26, 2006 | 01:55PM  | maudie dot b - gmail d c |

Oh, boy. Today was supposed to be a day for attending to other obligations and, well, laundry. But after scrolling through my bloglines feeds during my Sunday morning afternoon cup of coffee there's a hot topic burning amoungst poker scribes which I can't ignore. No time to write, right at the moment....

But first - there's a tournament today over at Full Tilt - Suckout on Leukemeia - which will raise money to help a Fult Tilt forum member who has been stricken with the disease. I have a co-worker whose son is in the throes of his own battle with leukemia right now... it's a no brainer - get over there and put your mad poker skillz to work to help out.

Today - Sunday at 17:00 EST
Private Tourney Tab "FTP Sucks Out on Leukemia"
$10 + $16
Password: playforjill

Damn... no time. I'll be back later with some thoughts on the online cheating that's been blown wide open recently. Bottom line, this is an issue we should all be concerned about not only as it relates to our own bottom line playing online, but also as it relates to the larger scale issues of how it will impact efforts to legitimze/ban online gaming in general and poker more specifically.

In the meantime - the following links can help bring you up to speed if you're in the dark on the happenings of the last couple of weeks:

Bill Rini weighed in and I'm in agreement with his point of view.
Russ Fox speaks to the larger picture.
Scurvy Dog expresse his opinion, as well.

I'm sure there's more out there on the subject, I just haven't gotten to it yet... but this is a subject that isn't going to go away soon. I suspect there will be more of these exposed in the coming months and the impact could be devasting.
