It's Sunday and I've spent the day, oh, pretty lazily. In a short while, I will be attempting a freeroll satellite on Poker Stars. I tried a $1-$0 last night (found $2 on Party Poker I didn't know I had - so, I guess I wasn't completely broke... hoh) - I was eliminated shortly after the first break.
Soooo.... the other night I found by googling for guitar tabs a Mary Chapin Carpenter tune I want to learn. It's an open tuning and while working on it, it sounded close to the tuning of an Over the Rhine tune I'm desperate to learn. I played around with it and stumbled into the exact tuning for Who Will Guard the Door - a song that has been haunting me for a few months now.
I was overjoyed - I've been working on it off and on all day. This is not easy - picking up a guitar and attempting to play after 25years is not like riding a bike. And training wheels won't help. Just determination.
And as I look forward to getting back to the poker tables, I know I'll have it a little easier than trying to play this darned guitar. I'll be able to get on my schwinn and ride, but I'll need that same level determination keep from falling off again.
Funny that.
