The pic on the right is indicitive of my entire weekend - all three days of it. Save for an outing to a play Friday evening, I played some poker online, slept, lazed around, played poker, slept... you get the idea. I think I was fighting off some sort of impending illness - lot's of pain, headache - whatever. But, it seems to have subsided - thanks to three days of inertia, I'm thinkin'.

I'm 3 for 3 in my own little step challenge at Poker Stars. I started at the $20 level, then moved up to $30 and then to $50 - two second places and one 3rd. I need work on aggressiveness - so I used these for sharpening. I also paid particular attention to reading my opponents. I have a horrible habit of playing only my cards and I consistently fail at putting my opponents on hands. So, during this personal challenge, I made sure I didn't make a move without going through the process of evaluating whatever info I had.

I've also learned the value of the continuation bet. That little sucker gained me more pots than checking the flop would've - which was my previous MO if I missed. I like the continuation bet. As it is with consistency in your pre-flop raises, consistently using the continuation bet could lure an opponent in when you hit big and win you the pot even when you don't. Combined with a good read on your opponent, it's a powerful little move.

Saturday with Pauly was dismal - I was in a fog. I'd overslept my standing brunch date, rushed up there to dine with my pals, then slipped back for the tourney a few minutes late. Plus, I was feeling miserable - all ingredients for a below par showing. Oof - can't even recall a single hand. Had a nap after that.

I made another stab at the Rini Desert Showdown satellite. I held my own, but not good enough. I was out in the middle of the field at 15. Congrats to Byron and Jason - the next two to win seats. For a while, there, it looked like Ceej was going to do it again. I'm convinced he's a bot. He is so rigged.

Actually - he's proving to be a damn fine tournament player!

OK - I'm pau. Time to go forage for food and find my place on the couch for the rest of the evening. Boy, I sure need a vacation. Anyone got any suggestions??
