Heads up, dear readers - BG & Iggy have done the deed - Poker Stars has scheduled The WPBT 'Charlie' Tournament for this coming Sunday at 18:00 EST - which translates to 6:00 pm EST; 5 pm CST; 3 pm VST (Vegas Time) - (damn, hope I'm right about that - never could get that military time thing down...). The entry is $20 - and every cent will go to a charity chosen by Charlie's family. Get your butt over there and sign up - tournament #9680072 under the private tab.

If you've been under a rock or are new to my 'lil blog then go to the following links for a little background:

Barry wins it for Charlie & Jason's Blog - Catching the Antichrist

This is a good thing.

I have to give a shout-out to some poker playing Okies who survived Day 2 and are holding their own right now at the WSOP Main Event - a couple of them from right here in Norman. This morning's list with chip counts as follows:

Noah Nodine, Norman..............47,000
Joe Berry, Wister........................39,950
Bruce Van Horn, Ada.................34,625
Lawrence Jelsma, Edmond..........30,975
Sunny Camper, El Reno..............30,075
Stephen Boyle, Broken Arrow....28,125
Doug Green, Stillwater................16,475
Dean Schoeneck, Norman.........16,000
Quan Tran, Edmond......................8,125
Jordan Morgan, Muldrow..............6,350
Billy Shadid, Heavner....................4,100

They have some serious ground to cover today as it seems par is around 90k in chips. Good luck to them all and here's hoping they do the home town crowd proud.

Wil Wheaton is posting about his WSOP experience. I have to say that Poker Stars demonstrated a chunk of marketing savvy by getting Wil on board. It can't hurt to have one of the top 50 read blogs out there shilling for you. The fact that Wil just happens to be the coolest geek walking the planet right now is a bonus. I've been a Wheaton fan since he was a lad and a die-hard fan since I first saw him on The Screensavers - way before this crazy poker phenomenon. Congrats to Wil & Poker Stars, hope it is a profitable partnership for them both.

In related news, Pauly is blogging about Wil blogging about him. Let me just say it out loud right now. I am intensely jealous of Pauly and Otis and the Joe's. They are having the experience of a lifetime while working their fingers to the nub and breaking new ground with their blogging. Not to mention, rubbing elbows with the icons of pokerdom and enjoying the starlight of Hollywood celebs. Let lil' ol' Auntie Maudie spout a couple of caveats, though - be careful how high you go and how fast you get there... look underfoot...

And when the hell do I get my dial-a-shot, anyway? Geeze, louise.........how quickly they forget the little people (and, no, I don't mean Iggy) .....

And, finally, my latest problem hand - poorly played on 4th and 5th streets, for sure. I offer it up to you, dear reader, and to posterity as well, as another chapter in the School of Hard Poker Knocks.

Table was Party BBJ 2/4. LAG for the most part. I had 99 in early position. UTG raised. If he hadn't, I would have. I re-raised with the intent to isolate, get him heads up. Got a call from the SB and from UTG. Since UTG didn't cap, I figured him for AK at best, 2 big overs at least. SB had me guessing - leaning toward a medium pocket pair.

I question my wisdom on that re-raise. My thinking was to protect my pair, drive out draws, get the guy heads up and proceed form there. The third guy in skewed the plan. He had me worried more than the first guy.

Flop: [ 9s, Kh, Tc ]

Mixed blessing - gave me my set, but could have also given a set to KK or TT - don't think there's a made set of kings - due to no cap pre-flop, but a set of tens is viable, with an additional straight draw. At the very least - one of them paired the K, I'm thinking.

SB bet, the next guy just called. I raised. And they both called. No re-raise. So now I'm thinking my set is good or someone's slowplaying.

Turn: [ Qh ]

Not a card I wanted to see. A straight is probable. SB bet, next guy raised. I cold called - big mistake. I can only hope to win if the board pairs - and even then, I don't have the mortal nuts - or the case 9 comes out. But, of course, I ignored the pot odds - didn't even calculate them. Looking at it now, and if I calculated right (and i have zero confidence that I have), I had roughly a 10% chance to hit a FH. The pot offered me less than that for me to call.

River: [ 2d ]

A bet, call and another big mistake by me - I called as well.

The SB had the straight with his [ A-J ]
The next guy had 2 pair with his [ K-Q ]

Y'all have a good one and remember to tip your dealer....
