It depends...

April 10, 2005 | 09:35PM  | maudie dot b - gmail d c |

Ja-know , this is just this sort of nonsense that keeps me away from the poker forums. I don't know what's more pathetic, that someone is carrying on a conversation with themselves on 2 +2 or that Paul Phillips went to the effort to chart the person's forum appearances. Now, I'm a fan of Paul's, but he still has some maturing to do, methinks..... tsk, tsk.

Thank you to all who responded to the hand post below. Very thoughtful responses and illustrates that, truly, in hold-em there's no pat way to play a hand - it just depends. It seems that mathmatically, it wasn't a mistake to make the call. However, if I were to play that hand over again, I would fold. I checked the flop because there were two people to act behind me, both who'd indicated strength.

Since the raise preflop was only at minimum, I didn't put him on a pocket pair. If I'd been up against one opponent instead of two, I might've lead out with a "feeler" bet and proceeded accordingly. I figured he hit the flop when he pushed, thus my contemplation of calling on the draw, which as previously stated, I rarely - if ever - do, but I gambled and lost. Sit-n-Gos are their own strange animal and over at Full Tilt they can be torturous at times.

Again, thank you Scott, Mike, Glyph, Bill, Darice, and Shelley for your feedback - it's very much appreciated. I'll have a couple more hand discussions to post sometime in the future.
