Hey 'dere

Well, no-one dare call me a luddite again. I am now thoroughly into the 21st century replete with the basic technological necessities of the day. With a thanks to Mr. Halverson for pointing me in the right direction, I have successfully routed, wapped, networked, and mobilized my online experience - I am sitting in a local latte and bagel establishment as I write this - my cell-phone has seen more use as a camera than as an actual phone and I’ve played online poker in the comfort of my own bed, iPod plugged in and Bruce rocking in my ears. And my free DVD player, which was a premium that came with my new cell phone service, is on its way. Damn, I love modern technology.

My game is holding steady - I've been erratic in my sessions and not been able to give them full attention and time. I've worked off the Party bonus and am working on the one at Full Tilt. The bonus, actually two bonuses, at Stars will probably never get worked off - I really don't like that site. I need to completely reboot my Poker Tracker database - start all over. And Full Tilt has got to ease up on the avatar upgrades and get going on the hand histories - that is a big liability to user friendliness right now. Anyone taking notes out there? I have to say that Poker Tracker Guide helped me right out of the gate. It helped me to see that I was not playing as tight as I thought I was - my boat was very leaky. I plugged a few of the hole the PTG pointed to and saw an immediate payoff. 'Nuff said.

I'm awaiting the opening of the poker room at Thunderbird Casino (I hesitate to even post the link - the web site is awful) in a couple of weeks. That's only about 20 minutes from my doorstep. Yee-haw. And in May, I'll be in Tulsa for a conference and will be checking out the Cherokee Casino (much nicer web site) poker action.

So what's happpening with ya'll out there?,

I’m a little late to the party with this - but many congratulations to Double As for his Aruba win. See why I say he’s got some valuable information over his way? I hope he does well in Aruba. It's only a matter of time before I'll be able to point to the TV screen and say "I know that player!" - one of you guys is going to get there afore long. Of course, it'd be great to be able to point to the screen and say "Hey, that's me!" but the only way that's likely to happen is for me to be sitting in the gallery during a final table taping.

And, of course, there’s Pauly's big announcement that he’s spending the summer in Vegas and will be typing his fingers to the stubs covering the WSOP. Wow. This may truly be the year of the Poker Blogger. It’s great to see the fruits of hard labor get rewarded.

Iggy said no the the corporate machine and has found a renewed focus on his professional poker career. I have to say that he has one great spouse in that wife of his to say “go - play - be free” so that he can get where he wants/needs to be to play the game that best suits him. That’s a key ingredient to the success of any relationship, in my most humble never-been-married opinion. And that mutual respect, love and support seems to be prevalent in many of our top poker bloggers and players out there. I lift my glass to you all.

Al and BG were up to their e-mail/pinging battle of wits again. I don't know about you, but I really enjoy those exchanges. Let's have some more, guys, okay? Oh, and Al, where's my eye candy bar pic?

Head over to Bazkar's and give the man a cigar - he's a new dad with baby #3 who arrived the middle of March. I'm a third child so I have some advice to give - take more pictures of the baby than you want to! By the time I came along, having a new baby wasn't the novelty the first baby was (or even the second if that one happens to be the first boy) so my picture album is shy a few hundred photographs. Get after it.

And from my clippings file, comes a post from The Intrepid Card Player regarding emotional control and poker. It's worth a read - check it out.

I can’t close this post without a humble bow to Felicia who’s facing the toughest opponent she’s ever to face and meeting the challenge head on with all the spit and fire (and wicked sense of humor) we’ve all come to admire. Get a leg up on your Omaha game by reading her Omaha strategy post - I don't think I'd be the first to say that Omaha is going to gain in popularity. I'd wager we'll be seeing more TV exposure of the game in the next year or two with Razz following close behind.

That's all the linkage I can muster today. Except for THIS ONE - Cafe Press sends a check at a minimum of $25 - I've earned $11. So I need 14 more orders just to be able to cash once - lol. Don't you want help me have a retirement or get to the WSOP? Hell, the really cute-but-annoying animated ad at the top of the site is worth a few purchases doncha' think? Thanks again to those of you who have purchased already - love ya' for it. And remember - you can name an item - get creative guys!

That's all for this installment. Keep those cards in the air!

(Footnote: I couldn't post from the latte and bagel bistro - my site was banned!)
