Single people need a holiday. We deserve our own "Power of One" day to celebrate our independence, our self-reliance, our ability to unscrew the jar and move the furniture sans assistance; our intrepidness at stalking the spider in the bathtub without backup; our courage to be the odd number in a world of evens.
Sigh.
Poker - Maudie's $25 No-Limit Riverdance:
BB - Jd 6h - got to see flop after 4 limpers. Had 1 out to
strait flush, 4 outs for strait, 9 outs for flush that was far from nut flush.
—Rivered a heart and took the pot from a Ts 3h.
SB - 5s 3s - for some reason decided to call a minimum raise
from a pair of nines. I hit two pair on the flop.
—Rivered the full (had the best hand on the flop, so no bad beat here.
Pre-flop call is questionable....)
MP - 4h 4s - flopped a set, but flush draw on board. Third
spade hit the turn. Three in the hand and we were all-in.
—Rivered the full when the board paired against 2 made flushes.
LP - Th 9h - played checkers until the river.
—Riverd a 9 and took the pot with an ace on the board. If the other guy
had bet the flop or the turn, he coulda had the pot.
LP - Ah 7h - shorthanded, called minimum raise. Flopped strait
draw and a nut flush draw - 13 outs? Turn, opponent paired his queen.
—Riverd the 5 for the strait.
At one point Pauly drifted by and pinged a query "Who's the fish at the table?" I couldn't answer, and you know what they say about that. I don't think my session success was due to brilliant play. Poker Tracker would help me me to determine just what did contribute to its success, however I am in need of a PT tutor 'cause I don't quite get how to use the information it is giving me....
But, at this point I'll take it any way I can get it. I also did well at a $1/2 limit table, for once. Not so good at a $20 SnG - I horribly mis-played a couple of hands and was out in fifth. For not having played a single hand of poker in nigh on to a week, I was welcomed back in style. We'll see if I can keep it going.
