Busted

So. I thought I'd have a little mischievous fun this evening when I got word from the good Dr. that a blogger table was in full blogger swing over at the Party network. I was at the end of a NL session at UB after laughing my proverbial rear end off trading banter with G-Rob - who, by the way, is at the top of my "way cool" list because he intelligently agrees that the funniest movie ever made is Blazing Saddles. Smart man.

Anyway - the night was going to be an all nighter for me, so I hopped over to Party, reloaded with my Vegas money and eventually slid into the 4s on the table - incognito. Banter was bantering in typical blogger banter fashion and the chips were flying across the table. I sat quietly waiting for the clever moment to come for me to join in the fray and impress everyone with my rapier wit and devious disguise.

In the meantime, it took all of 2 seconds for a couple of folks to figure it out - however I think I convinced one for a while, 'twas not me. My other cohort managed to convince Bad Blood for a minute or two that I was actually he. Otis had me pegged early, but lacked the courage of his convictions, but had me dead to rights on his read when he said I had K-Q in one hand before folding - you are good, my friend.

Waiting for my wit to surface was as fruitful as waiting for Godot. I sat there, lumplike, attempting to drop hints which only got lost in the rapid blogger banter flying through the chat box. I succeeded only in dropping my stack - twice. Half of my Vegas win slid across the table away from me. You could almost hear the tap-tap of the keyboards as I was tagged - fish! - I sealed my fishy fate when I gambled it up and called Bad Blood's $12 flop bet on a strait draw. Which hit on the turn, winning me a healthy pot and a spate of blogger, er, 'commentary' for a few hands to follow. I believe Iggy even warned not to tap the glass.

Bad Blood eventually put two and two together and pinged me his discovery. I outed myself to another who dropped in mid-conversation and who I hope has forgiven me... Please don't kick me out of the cool kids club, 'k? I love practical jokes but am absolutely lousy at pulling them off, and I inevitably end up offending someone (like the time we switched desk drawers on my co-worker and my boss got pissed off - thought it was juvenile...).

At any rate, I managed to stage a comeback and ended on the plus side of even - an extremely rare occurrence after a blogger encounter. So, nyeh!

As stated above, tonight is an all-nighter for me. I fly out at the crack of dark to Oregon for the holidays. Unless my Dad hasn't dropped his Web TV, you won't hear from me until after the 27th. In the meantime, I have a little holiday treat for you all. Click the link below - those of you without broadband, be patient, it will be worth the wait while it loads.
