In 3 (count 'em) 3 days I hop in the little blue bug an trek to the northeastern quadrant of New Mexico, specifically Taos, for a much needed rest and 'retreat.' On my way back, I've booked an overnight in Santa Fe with the intent of hitting the Casinos of Gold for some poker (it being the only casino in northern NM with a poker room, at least that's what the website states). At any rate, having never played cards in a casino, I am looking for every bit of advice and tips I can garner before I step foot on the premises.
I'm talkin' the basics - what's a fair rake? how much do you tip the dealer? and when do you give the dealer the tip? what should I look out for? if there's a tourney - what's a fair juice and what should I avoid? (for instance they advertize hold-em rebuys with a low buy-in and low re-buy, but a $100 mandatory add-on. Seems pricy to me) Does any one know anything about this particular casino?
Anything you can pass my way would be greatly appreciated - please e-mail me at the address in the box to the right. Also, I'm planning a little surprise for y'all while I'm gone - if it'll work, I think it'll be way cool. I'm taking my mac lap-top with me - so no online poker while I'm gone, but I'm hoping to do a couple of travel posts along with my 'surprise' -- look for that late Sunday or early Monday morning.... teee heeee.
