Success, at last!

Ok. I am now ready for Vegas. Hell, I'm, ready for the WSOP, WPT, ASPCA, whatever - bring it on! This evening, hours of discipline and practice finally paid off (drumroll please) I have successfully mastered the 8 chip shuffle. Yes! No kidding! I can play like the pros now!

A few weeks ago I got some chips of of E-Bay (a good deal, by the way, 500 8.5g composite chips and a case for $37) for home games. Well, I couldn't resist pulling some chips out of the case to try my hand at the chip shuffle - it looked so easy, I thought I'd be looking like a pro in no time. I forgot that in most things that require dexterity, I am a total clutz (I flunked juggling in acting class when I was in graduate school....). Chips went flying everywhere - but I didn't give up. I even found some tips online on this necessary poker skill. But, I just couldn't master it....frustration and shame set in. How could I ever show my face in a B&M if I couldn't pull off a chip shuffle with reasonable finesse?

But then, this evening, something happened. Maybe it's all the practice, or maybe it was the fact that I'd just returned home from seeing The Last Samurai and with take-out Chinese for dinner...but, during an online game, I 'zenned' and it all fell into place. Just when I thought I'd just give it up, I relaxed and let the forces take over and one by one the chips intertwined in a perfectly shuffled stack. I did it again, and they repeated their dance. Again. And click, click, click, click they slid into each other as smooth as....(did I say that out loud? No? Whew!)

Now if only the same could hold true for my game........
